Bismarck, ND Aug. 12
Community leaders will host a rally at 10 A.M. in front of the Federal Building, at 220 E. Rosser Ave, to talk about the tour and how health insurance reform will improve the lives of North Dakotans. Speakers include Susan Martin (Executive Director, Ruth Meiers Hospitality House), Sue Boyd (President, Missouri Slope Central Labor Council), and Brenda Neubauer (local health care reform activist).
Fargo, ND Aug. 12
Omaha, NE Aug. 15
The Highway to Health Care will make a pit stop in Omaha’s Memorial Park at Noon to provide Nebraskans the chance to climb aboard and contact their Members of Congress to demand real health insurance reform now. Speakers include Ken Mass (President, Nebraska AFL-CIO), Jennifer Carter (Program Director, NE Appleseed Health Care Access Program), Julie Dake Abel (Executive Director, NAPE AFSCME), and other speakers TBA.
Lincoln, NE Aug. 15
Join AFSCME for a Highway to Health Care rally at 3:00 P.M., at M & 12th Streets, in Lincoln to talk about the tour and how health care reform will improve the lives of Nebraskans. Speakers include Jennifer Carter (Program Director, Nebraska Appleseed), Julie Dake Abel (Executive Director, NAPE AFSCME), and additional speakers TBA.
Fayetteville, AR Aug. 17
The Highway to Health Care Tour rolls into Fayetteville to rev up action on health care reform when community leaders will host a rally at 10:30 A.M., at the Fayetteville Town Square, to talk about the tour and how health care reform will improve the lives of Arkansans. Speakers include Lioneld Jordan (Mayor of Fayetteville), Lindsey Smith (State Representative, 92nd District), and local residents with personal stories on the need for health care reform.
Little Rock, AR Aug. 17
Join the Highway to Health Care in Little Rock on Aug. 17 for a barbecue and concert, and a chance to climb aboard and contact your Members of Congress to demand real health care reform now. It starts at 6:00 P.M., at the Arkansas State Capital, and the concert will feature Damn Bullets; runners up in the 2007 Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase.
Little Rock, AR Aug. 18
AFSCME’s rock-n-roll themed mobile action center will hold a rally at the Arkansas State Capital, at 10:30 A.M., to provide Arkansans the chance to contact lawmakers and demand real health care reform now. Speakers include Rev. Steve Copley (Interfaith for Worker Justice), Candice Collins (Director, Health Care for America NOW!), Jim Nickels (Director AFSCME Council 38), and elected officials TBD.

The Highway to Health Care will make a pit stop at the Evansville Central Labor Council (210 N. Fulton Avenue) at 10 A.M. to allow Hoosiers the chance to climb aboard and contact their Members of Congress to demand real health insurance reform now. Speakers begin at Noon and include State Reps. Russell Stilwell, Gail Riecken, Trent Van Haaften, Dennis Avery, and local residents with personal stories on the need for health care reform.
Bloomington, IN Aug. 20
AFSCME’s rock-n-roll themed mobile action center will hold a rally at Bloomington’s Memorial Stadium Parking Lot (17th and Dunn), at 5:30 P.M., to talk about the tour and how health care reform will improve the lives of Hoosiers. Speakers begin at 6:00 and include Peggy Welch, Matt Pierce, other local and state legislators, and local residents with personal stories to tell about the need for health care reform.
Indianapolis, IN Aug. 21
Join the Highway to Health Care in Indianapolis on August 21 for rally, and a chance to climb aboard and contact your Members of Congress to demand real health care reform now. It starts at 10:00 A.M., at Laborer’s Union Hall (1520 E. Riverside Dr.) and speakers will start at Noon, including: Representative Andre Carson, State Representative Bill Crawford, City-County Councilwoman Joanne Sanders, and state AFL-CIO President Ken Zeller. Local residents with personal stories about the need for health care reform will also speak. Some 30 other healthcare-related organizations are taking part in the event as well. Included are Wishard Hospital, which will conduct diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure tests. “Health Care in a Box” kits will be distributed by The Marion County Health Department, and the American Cancer Society will provide health screenings
Cincinnati, OH Aug. 22
The Highway to Health Care will make a pit stop in Cincinnati at AFSCME’s Ohio Council 8 (1213 Tennessee Ave) at Noon to talk about the tour and how health care reform will improve the lives of Ohioans. Speakers include: Doug Sizemore, AFL-CIO; Brian Rothenberg, Progress Ohio; Marianne Steger, AFSCME Ohio Council 8. In attendance will be members from AFSCME Ohio Council 8, the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association (OCSEA), the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE), AFSCME Ohio Retirees Chapter 1184, the Greater Cincinnati AFL-CIO, Progress Ohio, community activists and local elected officials from across the region
Charlottesville, VA Aug. 24
The Highway to Health Care Tour rolls into Charlottesville to rev up action on health care reform when community leaders will host a rally at 12 P.M., at the Downtown Pedestrian Mall (across from City Hall, in front of the Pavilion — 600 Block of E. Main St.), to talk about the tour and how health care reform will improve the lives of Virginians. Speakers include elected leaders to be announced.
Wilmington, DE Aug. 25
The Highway to Health Care will make a pit stop in Wilmington’s Rodney Square (10th and Market St.) at 11 A.M. to talk about the tour and how health care reform will improve the lives of Delawareans. Speakers include: Sen. Harris McDowell (State Senator, 1st District), Rep. Gerald Brady (State Representative, 4th District), Rep. John Kowalko (State Representative, 25th District), Councilmember Lisa Dillard (New Castle County, 5th District), and Bob Hall (Executive Director, Delaware Ecumenical Council). Portland, ME Aug. 26
Join the Highway to Health Care in Portland on Aug. 26 for a rally and free concert — and a chance to climb aboard and contact your Members of Congress to demand real health care reform now. It starts at Noon at Post Office Park, and the concert will feature Adam Waxman and The Waxmen. Speakers include: State Representative Diane Russell (D – Munjoy Hill), Bonnie Eisenklam (RN, The Barron Center), Danielle Gagne (Portland resident with personal story), and Charlie Fairbrother (City of Portland maintenance worker of 32 years).
